System Integration of the Holographic Imaging Radar and Measurement System (HIRMS)

The HIRMS system's foundation is a large mechanical scanner capable of 40"x40" scans. The entire system was designed by members in the Mechanical Solutions Group.

Each of the sub-systems such as the trailer, boom and elevation module was procured under competitive bid and delivered per contract. At that point, the systems integration phase of the project began. The scanner was assembled, wired, and tested thoroughly at the PNNL site over a period of six (6) months. After extensive testing the customer came to the site for training in all phases of operation. This included setup and disassembly as well as system operation. After customer acceptance the HIRMS was delivered to the customer's facility.
