Pellet Testing Fixture
A test system was developed in support of the Tritium Target Project to evaluate the pressure drop that occurs as gas flows through the center of hollow ceramic pellets and through a carefully-controlled gap. In these tests a constant flowrate was maintained. Pressure drop was measured as the pellet-to-pellet gap was varied both axially and radially. The results are being used to better understand the dynamics of gas flow inside burnable absorber rods.
