Auxiliary Vacuum Chamber for Cryostat

The Mechanical Solutions Group developed system specifications and a preliminary design for a custom cryogenic vacuum system for characterizing Quantum Cascade (QC) Lasers operating at liquid nitrogen temperature. Janis Research fabricated the system and delivered it to Pacific Northwest National Laboratory during October 2003.

A large, 3-inch optical port allows transmission of light from 4 QC lasers without breaking vacuum.
