Gantry Robot

The Gantry Robot is a PaR Systems model XR100 Series. It has 4 degrees of freedom, which allow translation in three directions plus rotation about a vertical axis. The gantry has a working envelope of 8- by 10- by 4-foot (vertical). Positional accuracy and repeatability are ±0.1-inch over the entire working envelope. The maximum speed of horizontal and vertical movements is 36 in/sec and 12 in/sec, respectively. The maximum load capacity of the gantry is 500 pounds in any direction. The control system of the gantry allows sensor data to be used to update the trajectory in real time. This feature allows the use of proximity sensors to track uneven terrain.
