System Demonstration
The majority of the group's projects require the design, fabrication and demonstration of systems. Prior to the system demonstration, which in many cases the Project Client is present, a series of field tests are conducted to ensure that all hardware, software, and sub-system components operate together to achieve the tasks and goals set by the client.
For example, the Pit Viper, Hydraulic Test Bed, and Straddle Carrier Portal projects conducted field tests to evaluate system operation. The Pit Viper conducted a series of tests in which the system's robotic arm performed grinding, foam and debris removal tasks within a tank pit. The Hydraulic Test Bed was used to validate waste retrieval end effectors in a simulated mining demonstration. The Straddle Carrier Portal performed a series of tests to certify the conceptual design.
Meeting project objectives is our goal and we use all resources available to make clients happy with the products we deliver. Conducting field tests on the systems we design is one of the measures we employ to ensure that project objectives are met.
